Bauer Media

Bauer Media has transitioned from their well-known Golden Square studios to a new facility called The Lantern in Euston. As one of the leading operators of radio stations in the UK, including popular brands like Magic and Absolute, Bauer’s move involved significant upgrades to their network infrastructure, which operates on an IP backbone for studio-to-delivery connectivity 24 hours a day

During testing, Bauer encountered issues with their new network design, particularly concerning Precision Time Protocol (PTP) clocking and the interoperability of various hardware components, such as Livewire, Dante, and AES67. In response to these challenges, RockIT was brought in to assess and resolve the network’s shortcomings.

Through collaboration with the Bauer team, RockIT identified fundamental issues within the existing network. They implemented a series of testing scenarios to ensure compatibility across different hardware types. By applying PTPv2 standards, they developed a robust solution that addressed the existing constraints and ultimately allowed Bauer Media to successfully go live in their new studios a few months later.
