Since 2018, we have had the privilege of working with the iconic Oxford vs Cambridge Boat Race, a prestigious event held annually along the River Thames between Putney Bridge and Chiswick Bridge. Our role has been integral in providing a robust technological framework to support both event management and media coverage.
To ensure seamless communication and connectivity, we established leased line connections to the main hub site in Putney, which housed the event management and media center. This setup included VoIP services, IPTV, and comprehensive Wi-Fi coverage, ensuring reliable access for all participants and media personnel.
Our connectivity solutions were meticulously distributed along the embankment to key locations, including the Event Control office, team boathouses, and VIP areas. Additionally, at the finish line, we set up separate connections to support a second media centre and event management space, ensuring that all essential services were operational.
Two fan zones were also established in parks along the race route, where traders utilised our connectivity for EPOS payment systems, enhancing the overall spectator experience. This comprehensive approach to network infrastructure has contributed significantly to the event’s success, allowing for real-time communication and media coverage.
